Another year has gone by, and I am another year older. It’s starting to feel like the next year is flying by faster than the last. Having my birthday come around again, of course, makes me think about my life and what I’ve done. I’m so very proud of where I have traveled, and my life so far.
But, I can’t help but feel the anxiety. So many people have accomplished so much more than I have at this age in life. Am I leading a successful life?
After some pondering, I realized, of course I am! But, thinking about how little time we live our lives for, it makes me wonder, will I have enough time to do everything I want to do? Like everyone else, I don’t want to be stuck in a job, working for someone else my entire life. I want to build my brand, wander the earth, inspire people, and most importantly, I want to live. Yes, I realize I am still very young, but come on, I’m almost a quarter of a century year old!
After listening to Stop This Train on repeat by the King of Nostalgia, John Mayer, I poured my eyes out thinking about how fast life is going by because I am, “so scared of getting older, I’m only good at being young.” Truer words have never been sung about how fast life is passing by. See what I mean and listen to the song yourself:
But I realized, no matter what, we really can’t stop this, even though we so badly want to. So we have to make the absolute best of every experience we have. Cherish every moment, because you never know when it could be your last. Stop comparing yourself to others, you’ll never be satisfied of where you’re at. Instead, see how far you’ve come, and where you’re headed. Try to only see the positivity in life, and realize anything is possible. It may take you longer than some, but once you reach your goal, you’ll only appreciate it that much more.
So here’s to being 23 and the adventures to come!
